Total Vacations Features Montserrat a Second Time
Total Vacations, a major Ontario-based tour operator, has included Montserrat for the second year running in its print vacation brochure and on its website. This two-page full-colour spread on Montserrat is dedicated to general tourism information about the island on one page, and the other page promotes the three (3) properties being showcased.   The three (3) accommodation businesses featured by Total Vacations are Olveston House, Tradewinds Real Estate and Tropical Mansion Suites. These companies partnered with the Montserrat Tourist Board (MTB) as part of a co-op advertising programme to get included in the brochure. Full descriptions of these businesses, their location, facilities, rates and photos are detailed.  In addition, Montserrat has a destination page on Total Vacation's website www.totalvacations.ca where travel agents can book the three accommodation companies in the programme.

Miles Away Villa Resort Opens in Olveston
This six (6) bedroom property recently opened in Olveston and is set amongst lush surroundings near Nantes River.  All rooms are tastefully furnished in modern-Caribbean style, with air-conditioned bedrooms, king/queen sized or twin beds, cable TV and complimentary wireless internet. Each suite opens onto a patio with glimpses of the blue Caribbean Sea through a profusion of palm fronds. Concealed behind louvered doors is a kitchenette for the preparation of drinks and light meals. After exploring Montserrat you can come back to your private accommodation to enjoy a drink on the patio or a swim in the pool, and watch birds flitting through the foliage. At night, lie back and be seduced by the sight of the moon shining through the palms, and enjoy nature's music: the song of the frogs, the sound of waves lapping on the shore, the river and the trade winds rustling through the foliage. For more information on this property and to make reservations contact Sharmaine Nelson at (664) 491 7362 , email info@milesawayvillaresort.com or visit www.milesawayvillaresort.com

In the Spotlight - Chico's Distinctive Homemade Ice-cream
If you are visiting Montserrat, a taste of Chico's Homemade Ice-cream which features a range of local flavours is a must.  This venture was started by Haycene 'Chico' Ryan and his wife Phyllis Ryan at their George Street home in Plymouth in April 1978. Ice-cream making for him started in a four quart electric White Mountain traditional freezer that was obtained from his mother in-law.   Still producing and selling his ice-cream from home, he obtained a 20 quart manual freezer and expanded the operation.   Not content to rely solely on essences' to provide flavoring, local fruit pulps such as guava, soursop, tamarind, coconut milk, passion fruit, ginger and others were added to provide a distinctly different and wholesome ice-cream eating experience.  A total of 19 flavours are now available, including flavored nutmeg.  To compliment the delicious ice-cream flavors, Chico also makes Waffle cones or as some refer to them, sugar cones, which were developed by his wife.  You can usually find Haycene selling his exotic ice cream flavors and home baked waffles in the Carr's Bay area on evenings and they are also available at Ponts "Beach View" Bar & Restaurant in Litte Bay and at the Tropical Mansion Suites.
