Montserrat remains the way the Caribbean used to be, a quiet, gentle place where there’s not a whole lot of nightlife except at special times of year, but clubs sometimes open on Friday or Saturday nights or for a special occasion. There’s a host of small roadside bars, better known as “rum shops”, where people gather informally to hang out or “lime”, have a drink and perhaps relax over a game of dominoes, especially on Friday nights.
