Montserrat will heat up from March 9 - 18 2013 with the Annual St. Patrick's Festival and the addition of an African Music Festival, the first of its kind to be held in the Caribbean. The Music Festival will take place on 16 and 17 March at the Salem Park and will feature two renowned African Artistes - Darby Toure' and Jalikunda as well as some local acts.

The travelling public is asked to note that for the balance of February 2013, the ferry will no longer operate a Wednesday service. The ferry will however continue its Thursday, Friday and Saturday service, departing Montserrat at 6:30am each morning. The Thursday service also allows for a mid-morning departure from Antigua at 9:00am with an afternoon departure from Montserrat at 4:30pm to facilitate day trips. There is also a later service departing Antigua at 7:00pm for Montserrat. The Friday and Saturday service departs Antigua at 6:30pm.

The general public is encouraged to participate in filling out the Montserrat Festival Evaluation sheet, to complete the final report on the festival. The sheet can be downloaded here, or hard copies can be collected at the Montserrat Tourist Board. All entries should be emailed to info@montserrattourism.ms . Travellers coming to Montserrat during the Christmas season will benefit from an extended ferry service to the island from Antigua. The service will operate on December 1, 5, 6, 7, 8 and then from December 10 to January 12, 2013. The service will not operate on Christmas Day (Tuesday December 25). The current ferry service which is available on www.visitmontserrat.com/By_Sea will continue its three (3) day schedule between the islands until November 30 with the new schedule taking effect from December 1, 2012.

Following the successful in-depth audit of FlyMontserrat, the Airline will be operating its normal schedule again from tomorrow (31st October). FlyMontserrat had a clean audit in August 2012 and again following the latest four-day audit of both maintenance and operations. The UK Regulator reported that no significant safety concerns have been identified.

The Montserrat Running Club announces the cancellation of this year’s Volcano Half Marathon. In spite of the best efforts of the Club, the Volcano Half Marathon has been unable to attract sufficient sponsorship and interested runners from both on island and overseas to justify this year’s race.
